Of all the grammar lessons from U.S. (United States of America) history, this is the one for me.
I think that social networking language is fine as long as we keep it in the appropriate forum. What concerns me is that the LOLs, OMGs, etc. are making their ways into business communications and other no-nonsense forums. I was equally concerned about the emergence of dude-speak, some years ago.
Let the English language evolve and grow where there is a need and where it makes sense. In any case, it is crucial that writers first consider their audience and the writing situation when selecting diction and usage.

I’m impressed, I have to admit. Rarely do I encounter a blog that’s equally educative and entertaining, and let me tell you, you’ve hit the nail on the head. The problem is something that too few folks are speaking intelligently about. I’m very happy I came across this in my search for something relating to this.
